I will always love you to the reaches of my heart;
When your smile curls with the scratch of your chin;
Your chirp for attention off a galloping sprint;
When you’d flop your head in the nook of my arm, to be cradled like a child with endless charm;
When you’d rest your paw in the palm of my hand;
Your pooling blue eyes reflecting mine.
And I’ll remember the days when you’d cower at the crack of lightning, I’d wander the room trying to find you and when I did, I’d scoop you up, caress your back to calm you, and you’d curl up by my side, through the night we’d sleep easing each other into peace.
